Glow Plug

Motorcraft glow plug is a heating device used to help start diesel engines. While diesel engines are designed to use the heat generated by very high compression to ignite their fuel, cold weather can result in cylinders too cool to generate combustion. Heat generated by the Motorcraft glow plugs serves to warm the engine block immediately surrounding the cylinders, allowing the engine to start.
